Sweden's ALIEN Reunite, Begin Work On New Album

Swedish AOR/hard rock outfit ALIEN have reunited and are working on a new album. Guitarist Tony Borg and vocalist Jim Jidhed, having topped the Swedish charts in 1988 with their debut, platinum-selling album, are currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on a new collection of material.

To complete the team, Borg recruited two musicians, Bernt Ek and the drummer Jan Lundberg, to fill the drummer and bassist slots. In addition, Bo Reimer (BACKSTREET BOYS, THE DARKNESS, BUSTED) has mixed two of the tracks, while Tatiana Oscarsson, daughter of Cannes award-winning Swedish actor Per Oscarsson and longtime friend of Borg, has written many of the lyrics (additional lyrical input came from Canadian "Pop Idol" competitor Scotty Newlands)

Borg commented on the timing of the reunion: "It just felt right. I'd started working on a number of ideas with Bernt and Jan and then Jim and I met up again." Jidhed continued: "Tony and I met up in Gothenburg on a brilliant winter's day at the beginning of 2004 and it just sparkled like we'd never been apart!"

The first four tracks finished will be available as a demo to record companies in June with the album set to be finished by August. ALIEN have plans for some low-key concerts in Sweden, the U.K. and continental Europe during 2004 with a more extensive run of dates set to take place in 2005.

ALIEN's 1988 self-titled debut peaked at no. 2 in the Swedish charts and produced a platinum-selling single, the BEE GEES cover, "Only One Woman". The album was released worldwide on Virgin International.
